Support the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF)

Do you know someone who suffers from juvenile (type 1) diabetes? If so, you probably understand some of the challenges people with the disease face. WWMG’s own Jennifer Okemah, administrator of the Diabetes & Nutrition Education Center, is well aware of the problems involved for people and especially children with diabetes.

Every year Jennifer Okemah takes part in a Ride to Cure sponsored by JDRF to raise money for the Foundation.  This year she is inviting the public, and everyone interested in supporting the JDRF foundation, to her annual wine tasting fundraiser for JDRF at Northwest Cellars on Friday, October 24th from 7-9 pm. She hopes you will join her to help her meet her goal to raise $4,000 and support as she participates in the JDRF Ride to Cure in Death Valley, CA. The winery is at located at 11909 124th AVE NE Kirkland, WA 98034.

Pre-registration is $15 and the cost is $20 on-site. A portion of the registration fees and wine sales will go directly toward JDRF and Jennifer has designated special labels for the event.

WHITE 2013 Sontatina – described as fragrant and luscious wine with flavors of peaches, pineapple, thyme and honey. Fresh and vivacious with a lingering mineral finish.  Jennifer  re-named this “Jennifer’s Jubilee Juice” after the 6 mile incline up Jubilee Pass.

RED 2011 Madrigal – opens with aromas of candied red cherry and pomegranate with notes of sage and game. The palate shows juicy red fruit, blackberry and crushed fresh herbs. Tannins are moderate and silky followed by a lovely, soft cherry finish. People call this wine “magical”. I call it “Dante’s Badwater”.

Music will be provided by Fly Rod.
