Jeff R. Peterson, MD
Dr. Peterson enjoys long-term relationships with his patients. He embraces a holistic approach to the treatment of rheumatic conditions including dietary, environmental, and lifestyle modifications alongside the latest and most effective therapeutic products. He works closely with primary care physicians and naturopathic physicians in this goal. Dr. Peterson has particular interests in inflammatory arthritis including rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, reactive arthritis, and gout and is a regional expert in treating gout.
As the long-standing president of the Washington Rheumatology Alliance, he advocates for patient access to medications with both government and insurance companies and works tirelessly in this effort. Dr. Peterson educates other rheumatologists in the latest treatments for rheumatic disease as the director of the Northwest Rheumatism Society. He is also a director of the Arthritis Clinic’s clinical research department and is the principal investigator on numerous research studies.
His personal interests include woodworking, gardening, wine making, and is now in the process of establishing a 5000 tree apple orchard/cidery in Bellingham with a goal of producing a commercial hard cider product.
